Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Can I always retrieve a document that I signed. I signed a write up at work. I requested a copy and I was told i was unable to ever get a copy for my records for future employment.

You are entitled to obtain a copy of whatever you signed. You are entitled to 'look at' all of your personnel file upon reasonable notice and timing.
