Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Being Sued

I was informed that I was being sued by my ex girlfriend for the amount of 1600.00 by a representative from the Judge Judy T.V. show. I borrowed money from her and there was never any written agreement as to pay back of it nor is there any proof of receiving money from her. I have been sending payments through the mail and she has been cashing them because morally I feel it is the right thing to do. Now she is sueing me in small claims stating that I have not been paying her the agreed amount, which there was never any agreement for. She gave the wrong address for me and I was never served a summons to appear. My questions are one, do I have to appear in court? And secondly, if she has cashed any form of payment doesn't that constitute as accepting payment? Any help with this I would appreciate.

Re: Being Sued

You have nothing to lose by going on the Judge Judy show (except maybe you could get a tongue-lashing from her).

AFAIK all damage awards are paid by the producers, so why wouldn't you?
