Legal Question in Technology Law in California

Who sold my e-mail address?

I have been receiving adult oriented spam and I am guessing that the violator bought my email address from another company who received my information legitimately. Is there a law or statute that I can reference in order to have a company disclose who they bought my e-mail address from?

Re: Who sold my e-mail address?

In California, it is not unlawful to sell an amil address. California's spam laws are found at California Business and Professions Code sections 17538.4 and 17538.45, as well as California Penal Code section 502. You can read these at http://www.spamlaws.com.
