Legal Question in Technology Law in California

I stupidly went on the dark web to a porn site. I hate myself for doing this. It's sick and I would do anything to take it back. I signed up for a an account on one of these porn sites and I know there is a bitcoin transaction that shows me buying an account on this site. I never logged into the site or downloaded any images at all. I didn't log in even one time. I'm terrified I'm under investigation and that the FBI is going to show up with a search warrant. How concerned should I be?

Greetings.

It would be my advise not to log into the site at this point since you did not sign in after signing up for an account. If you never signed in then you never downloaded or viewed anything. However, just seeing something on one of those sites means information has been transferred to your computer whether a "sample" or a paid subscription access.

If you witnessed any "sample" images which could be deemed illegal then remnants of those images could still be in the cache of your hard drive, your operating system log files, etc. If you did not witness any "sample" images then you should be just fine.

I will tell you what I tell all my clients which is to steer clear of the dark web. Many people are curious from time to time but if a person is not even looking for something illegal they might come across something rather unsavory with no intention of even doing so.

If when signing up with Bitcoin, was it a "recurring" fee where you will be billed again? If so, make sure that does not happen but work though your Bitcoin console and do not attempt to contact the website you signed up with. In fact, my advise has always been to stay off the dark web completely considering it is not worth the worry.

If you have further question or anything else to add to the information you have provided then please don't hesitate to contact me. Good day.
