Legal Question in Technology Law in California

Type of lawyer for DirectTV dispute

I am having a hard time understanding which category of law to find a lawyer that can help me with a dispute with DirectTV. I feel I need to find representation at least to handle communication between me and DirectTV. Hopefully, she could give me a risk assessment on my options so I can make an informed choice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In specific, is DirectTV entitled to the kind of settlement for the evidence they have? In other words, is there case built on a house of cards based on the evidence of records obtained from a smart card reader manufacturer?

Re: Type of lawyer for DirectTV dispute

You may need to find an attorney with experience in tort (conversion) and contract litigation.

It seems that in your case, like many others, Direct TV has singled you out as an illegal user of their systems based on the seizure of records of a company known as White Viper (or another third-party) who was selling "access" cards which enabled the purchasers to bootleg the DirectTV signal.

I have recently handled similar cases and I would agree with you that DirectTV's initial demands are unreasonable and excessive in some cases.

If you would like to discuss this matter, please feel free to call me at 949-640-1120.
