Building permits
What if we want to turn our garage into a kids play area with carpet on floor and TV. Do we need a permit and if we do not apply for a permit, what can the planning dept. do?

If you are going to convert your garage you do need permits especially if you want the sqare footage counted for appraisal purposes. You will also have to have at least a covered carport.
