Legal Question in Construction Law in California

can a father with a c12 & c34 contractors license be rme for his son & how? And can he give prices and do the work on his rme.

I can't think of anything that would prevent one member of a father-son team from being an RME for the other, provided the other CSLB requirements were met. To be sure, I'd suggest you address the question directly to the CSLB, which is pretty good about answering questions for its licensees.

He cannot operate his own business and be RME at the same time. As a licensee, your license can only attach to one business at a time, either your own, or one you are RMO or RME for. This is why mid-sized corporate contractors will set up "divisions" when they expand, rather than subsidiary corporations, because each corporation must have a new RMO/RME even if one corp is wholly owned by another.
