Legal Question in Construction Law in California

small claims $7500

add to original question the fact i can't find the contractor license #:

basically, elderly parents gave a contractor money to do a job and never did the work. we requested the money back and he said ok but yet to hear from him. to avoid the stress from all this, they are both very confusable(?), i took a loan out to reimburse them as if it came from the contractor. My question: can i legally take him to small claims to get my money? as if i am acting on their behalf or ?

If he is bonded, as he may be required to be, you may have other options. You may contact me to discuss.

There probably was no contractor license number, because he probably isn't licensed. Your case doesn't depend on the #.

You can stand in the shoes of another party if that party provides you with a form called a written assignment. You should contact an attorney to assist you in preparing this form.
