Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

I had booked flight tickets for an international trip. My flight had been rescheduled (much in advance) and I only got to know when I reached the airport. I immediately contacted the airlines and they said it was travel agents responsibility to inform me. Travel agent kept making excuses that they themselves did not know and did not pay heed to my request to be booked on another flight immediately. I had to return home and fly next day per the rescheduling. Can I sue the travel agent for this inconvenience or what are my options

I would have a hard time finding a basis to sue. Inconvenience does not equate to damages..
