Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

I bought car 2 years ago from a carlot, but it went out of business 5 days after I gave my down payment, and never financed the vechile. So Ive been stuck with a car that i have no paperwork to and no way to register it. is there any way for me to get the title?

So this car has been parked in your garage for 2 years?? I would not be quick to assume you can't register it. Smog the car and consult a private DMV registration service, some of those people are magicians. Or you could smog the car and sell it as-is to some other person. You would be safer waiting another year in case someone associated with the car lot decides to file a lawsuit against you. I am assuming that you never heard from the car lot or finance company and that repossession is unlikely.
