Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Contract's Term dispute

We signed a contract w/ an alarm company on 2/09/99 and the alarm was installed on 2/19. The ''term'' in our contract stated: ''The original term of this agreement for svs shall be 36 FULL calendar months after the month during which the system is installed and will automatically continue for successive 1yr periods from the last day of the original term unless either party gives the other at least 30 days prior written notice of its intention to cancel the agreement at the end of the original term or at the end of any renewal term.'' We sent cancellation ltr dated 1/15/02 (rec'd1/22).Wethink the ltr gave 30days notice bcause acording to ''term'', our contract ends 2/28/03 and as long as they rec'd ltr before 1/30, we fullfilled our part in canceling the contract. The alrm co. says svs rolled over another yr because they didnt rec'd ltr by2/9What can we do?.

Looks like you are late.

Looks like you are late. You might want to consider paying and give them notice now that you wanted it cancelled at the end of this term.
