Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Health and safety

I recently brought a multi-media surround sound 5.1 speaker system. Manufactured by a reputable US firm. The distributor

nation wide and well respected.

After bringing it home and opening the sealed box a very foul odor came from the sub-woofer making me ill, changing my voice and causing nausea and pain in the liver. This to me is a health and safety issue. Who do I contact to report and alert with my concerns?

Re: Health and safety

First off you should see a doctor immediately. Removing the item from your home would also be a good start. You should then contact the company and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (see link) and inform them of the problem.

If you then wish to pursue your situation in a legal forum for any damages you have suffered, you should speak with an attorney. Feel free to contact me then, if you would like to discuss further.
