Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Recently paid off a vehicle loan but, loan computer shows non payment!

Recently paid off a auto loan, Got back the check showing auto loan's been received and processed on time. But VIN # on the check has been scratched out and input another vehicle's VIN# and then remarked our VIN# on the check. Called auto loan company they stated non payment, over 30 days, and has sent to credit companies of non payment. Yet we have proof that payment was recieved by the auto loan company. Double check with bank. Called again to Auto loan company. They retracked their statement of non payment. sent a letter of apology. said they will send letter to credit company to retrack the 30 days late. Got hassled for payment when trying to resolved the pay off issue. Still have not recieved the pink slip for the vehicle. Auto loan company has cause emotional damage and credit defamation even though it was their fault. Is there any grounds to sue this company? My own opinion is it seems like someone in payoff department try to commit fraud.

Probably you should have a lawyer send a letter on attorney letterhead demanding the pink slip. Maybe you even have a lawsuit.
