Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I have 20+ year old school loan that just appeared , Not on my credit but some attorney suing for judgment on behalf of U.S.A not sure if that is even past it the stature of limitation or legal?? Never been served, paper looks like court doc (no court stamp) , they are asking for judgemnt based on no show also, they have been calling my parents house talking w mother telling her she need to call me and tell me to callback immediately..? I dont know what is legal or what is to be done??.... unless this is how school loans in default get handle ??

Unfortunately, there is no statute of limitations for the collection of federally backed student loans. Do you know if the loans were federal or private? If private, you may have a statute of limitations argument.

It does, however, sound as if the legal requirements for the lawsuit have not been followed and you make them start all over.

Because of the age of the debt, you may be able to negotiate a repayment.
