I was burned in a fire in a fire in Colorado. Transported to hospital via ambulance and taken into surgery directly from the ER. I was operated upon by a plastic surgeon and anesthesiologist, neither of whom are providers for my insurance. Blue Cross paid them the maximum they would have paid a provider. Both doctors are now coming after me for thousands. Do I owe?

Both Colorado and California prohibit so-called "balance billing" (look it up). Tell them to go pound sand. My fee for go-pound-sand letters on my letterhead is $100, payable by PayPal.
