Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I closed my business after 2 years and cancelled ADT alarm service. Now they've billed me for over $1200. Am I still personally liable for it when the contract was under the dba name?

If the business was operating only under a fictitious business name, the individual is personally liable. That's why some companies operate as a corporation or LLC -- to avoid personal liability. Perhaps you can negotiate with ADT, since you're no longer using their service. Also, read the contract and see what it provides for regarding cancellation.
