Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

A collection agency is claiming I'll be sued

About 3 or years ago I signed for a

motorcycle of my at the time

boyfriend who was making the

payments. We have since broken up

and he hasn't paid. I have now been

contacted by a collection agency

regarding the matter and they say.

I'll be sued and possibly have my

wages garnished. I can't afford to

pay for the motorcycle. I need help I

don't know what to do!

Sorry, use your signature wisely, or face the consequences such as the ones you have related to Law Guru.

Looks like you need a litigation attorney like me to do the following: First, make the best deal possible with the collection agency; and second, sue the former boyfriend for indemnity, unjust enrichment, etc. for the debt he left you with years ago. If the former boyfriend is still financially irresponsible (e.g. unemployed, no assets, etc.), you are probably on the hook unless you want to consult with a bankruptcy attorney. In any event you better seek an attorney's help right away.

You need to talk to an attorney now. You can be sued and you are responsible. However, so is the ex. You can file an answer and then a cross-complaint against him. Just make sure you talk to an attorney before you file anything.
