Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

can the computer owner suffer from malicious activites by someone else?

If some person other than myself or immediate family were to make purchases online with a stolen credit card using my computer and internet connection (with or without my knowledge), will I be punished also if they were to be caught?

If you know about it, you're an accessory. If not, you might get charged anyway. It might possibly be difficult to match your IP address with a credit card purchase, then again maybe it's not, and that doesn't prove you were sitting at the keyboard, but don't assume you won't be caught and charged.
