Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I am being contacted daily by a woman who claims to be an "investigator" for a law office. She has left messages with multiple members of my family, my co-workers and on my voicemail saying that I owe money for an old payday loan and am being investigated for fraud for failing to pay said payday loan. Her curt messages (that I have been receiving for a few months now) always say that if I don't respond with payment right away a warrant will be issued for my arrest in my county. I spoke with her and her collegues and have given them my address so they can mail me an invoice to pay off of, yet still receive threatening calls every day, sometimes two or three times a day. I've told her I can't receive personal calls at work and she containues to call my office line and even called the Human Resources manager in my office! Do I have any recourse to make this stop?

Yes. You should speak directly with a consumer law/bankruptcy attorney for assistance. It sounds as if the collections agency is in violation of various state and federal fair debt collections practice acts and can be sued, if set up correctly.
