Re: court ordered payment

On a court-ordered judgment you should provide the plaintiff with a Acknowledgment of Full Satisfaction of Judgment form for them to date, sign and return to you in a SASE you provide. If you send a cashier's check, so the payment is assured, the judgment creditor must provide you with the signed acknowledgment within 15 days; otherwise you can bring a motion to compel his cooperation and get damages and a $100. penalty. You should include a letter with your payment that advises the judgment creditor of his obligation to cooperate under Code of Civil Procedure section 724.050

Once you get the signed form, file it with the appropriate court and keep a certified copy for your records.

Send it by certified, return receipt mail. Enclose a cover letter identifying the check by check number, bank drawn up, etc., and make a copy of the check for your records. That should suffice.
