Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

credit card collections

Can the credit card collection agency go after my car or bank account? If yes, is the answer what happens if there are teo names on the car title and bank account?

Re: credit card collections

If the CC Company files suit against you and procures a judgment -- they make seek to satisfy that judgment by garnishing your assets. Certain property is exempt and you would have the right to contest such a garnishment. For example, your car may be exempted if you depend on it for your livelihood. The most popular tactic is to garnish a percentage of your wages. The joint accounts become much trickier, depending upon the relationship of the people on the accounts and their responsibility for the debt.
