I have a credit card that was cancelled

in 2001. Will this only stay on my credit

for seven years? If not how long?

Re: credit debt

It should have fallen off your credit report in 7 years. Some unscrupulous collection agencies (I realize this is redundant) illegally "re-age" your credit report by re-submitting the item to the credit bureaus, and some will sue you even after the 4 year statute of limitations is up and/or try and scare you into paying something (which will reset the 4 year statute).
