Attorney McCoyt is almost right. It's 4 years from the last date payment was due, and if the creditor or collection agency can get you to make a payment or a promise of payment, they get another 4 years. If a collection agency is suing past the deadline or you suspect a violation of California's strict debt collection laws, I would greatly appreciate a heads-up.
