Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Can fees for time expended in case preparation be awarded in small claims court or are awards strictly limited to out-of-pocket costs? Thanks, Charles D

Out of pocket costs is all Judges will generally allow.

That is correct only your filing, cost of serving the other side and similar fees are recoverable. Preparation time or attorney's fees even if the party is a licensed attorney are not recoverable.
