How Many Garnishments can one Household have

My wife and I purchased a car 5 years ago the car was repoed. I agreed to pay back the balance of 10,000 we defaulted on that agreement. Now they can Garnish wages. Can my wages be garnished along with my wifes? I'm already being garnished for back child support. Please help

If the finance company already has a judgment against you, they can attempt to garnish your wages. Your wages are one half exempt, however, and the further half is subject to a claim of exemption for your necessities of life. Whatever is subject to garnishment will be fought over by your judgment creditors, or be paid to the first claiming.
