Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Im getting married next month. My fiance is trying to sell his townhouse in MN. If he goes into short sale, will it affect my credit and will I be able to apply for a mortgage?

It should not, as the debt is solely in his name. I'm not sure how long you and your fiance have been together - if he obtained the mortgage while you were together, just be certain that your name appears nowhere in his loan documentation. People's memories often fade with time, and I can't tell you how many times I've had clients not remember that they jointly applied for debt. I understand that it is not likely with a property in another state, but better to be safe than sorry.
