Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I have a medical bill that is from 2005 and various credit card debts from 2006. I haven't made any payments since 2006 on any of the debt and I never made any payment or said i was for the medical bill. It was a life threatening emergency an i was taken to a county hospital and treated. My question is that in the next month I will be receiving a sizable amount of money from my grandfathers living trust, can any of my creditors go after the money? I have never recived any type of suits from any of them just letters from debt collectors and recently I haven't been getting any so I figured the statue of limitations was up. Any help would be greatly apprecitated!!

The statute of limitations would appear to have lapsed, or almost lapsed, unless one of your creditors is the county. But they would have to sue you first before they would be able to tap your bank account or other assets.
