Re: Order to Show Cause ordered off calendar

Typically, when a case is filed, the court will set a date for the plaintiff to appear in court to "show cause" why the case shouldn't be dismissed because the defendant has not been served with the lawsuit. If you have been served and the plaintiff has filed a document called "proof of service" with the court, the court will take the "order to show cause" off calendar.

Feel free to contact me during the week if you want to discuss this matter further. It might be worth your while to speak with a lawyer because you might have defenses to the lawsuit that might not be apparent to you -- including the statute of limitations.

Sounds like somebody filed an order to show cause requesting the court to do something in the matter but then failed to appear for the hearing. It's now off calendar, meaning the court will consider the request.
