Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I owe several people (so-called friends) money that they loaned me when i started to face some hard times but the charge me 10% intrest each so before i knew it i was in major debt borrowing from one so i can pay the intrest to another and i can no longer handle it can they take any legal action against me?

Yes. Those to whom you still owe money can file suit against you if the payments had become due within the past two years, if the loan agreement was oral.
