I purchased a vehicle from a private party (neighbor). He never gave me the pink slip or bill of sale, I have the cancelled check. His son and I got married and divorced after the purchase. They refuse to give me the truck or the paperwork. How long do I have to sue him in small claims court for my money back?

The time limit to sue for breach of contract in California starts from the date the other party breaches the contract. The time period is 2 years for breach of a verbal contract and 4 years for breach of a written contract.
