Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I received a call from an 'officer' saying I was responsible for a fraud loan taken out by a person I do not have contact with merely because they used my address and phone number to apply. I have been told I have to pay this loan or go to court on their behalf. Is this true?

If it was not you who took out the loan and you did not sign anything, then most likely not. I also suspect that this "officer" was merely a collection agent playing cop.

Did you ever recive notice of the loan? Have you received any bills or Court papers? Do you know if your social security number was used as well?

I'd start by demanding a copy of whatever loan documentation was submitted, look it over and then contact me through my website PasadenaEstatePlanning.com so we can discuss this further in a private forum.
