Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

We received a summons stating that we are being sued by a Credit Collection Agency for roughly $1,568 + $400 in legal fees.

We have not filed a response yet, but have until Friday September 25th to do so. If we pay the balance owed to the Collection Agency, in full on September 24th, do we still have to file a response with the Court and pay the filing fees?

You might talk to the lawyer whose name is on the paperwork, rather than the collection agency personnel. You will want to have it in writing -- e-mail, letter, etc. -- that they file a dismissal of the case when you pay. If they follow through, then you wouldn't have to file the answer because the case would be over.
