Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

How do I respond to a summons?

I received a summons for money owed and have since worked out payment with the law firm. I have an agreement in writing from them that they will dismiss the case once I have made the final payment next month. Do I still need to respond to the summons and if so how? I could not find any forms online. Any idea what form I would fill out for a small claims summons? Thanks for your help!

Re: How do I respond to a summons?

The lawyer for the other party should file a notice of settlement with the court so that the court won't penalize anyone for not doing what they're supposed to. Talk to the other lawyer to make sure that you won't have to file an answer (which could get fairly expensive), and that they won't take your default. Get that in writing, too.
