I just got served by Discover credit card, and I want to negotiate to pay monthly avoiding court, how would i do this? Contact Discover or contact a lawyer?

You would contact the attorney whose name appears on the summons. Usually, credit card issuers are most receptive to settlements that include a large lump sum payment.
