Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Stolden check

My check for $1800.00 was sent from my credit union to my house . I never recieved it. The credit union put a stop payment on it. I recieved a new check and was sent to my work with no problem. the check was cashed at a nix check cashing place by someone else. Now the collection co. is coming after me for the money and I had nothing to do with it.

Please be more specific. What collection company, for the credit union? Why were you originally supposed to receive a check? How long ago did this happen? When you say they are "coming after you," did they sue you or are they just calling you and sending letters? Do not speak to collection agencies, deal with them only in writing certified mail RRR.

I would like to hear more.
