stop payment check

my friend had wrote me 2 out of state checks with her addy in Texas, she then stop payment the checks. now we are not friend and im trying to collect this checks. She lives in CA and TX, on the check it has her husband name and her name, I called him and explain the situation to him so he can pay me. But they didnt do anything yet, what are my options to collect this money?

If you can't get payment by other means, you can file a lawsuit to get payment for the checks. In California, the small claims limit is $5,000, so if your losses are below this amount, you may find that a simple and relatively quick way to get a judgment, and after judgment, you can collect in a variety of ways.
