I won a civil lawsuit, after winning a criminal case against a group of businessmen. They were served properly and were in default. Must I wait two months or six months, before I hire a law firm to go after their assets....property, bank accounts etc....

Congratulations on getting a default judgment. Don't wait, the assets could dissipate. Record a certified copy of the judgment with the county recorder without delay.

There are actions you can take now with an attorney, but there are also reasons for waiting six months, as it is then harder to reverse a default judgment.
