i have not worked in a year i have cancer. i have credit cards that i can't pay, they told me they are going to put a lean on my home, can they do that with a unsured credit card?

Only after the credit card issuer or its assignee obtains a judgment against you. It would first have to sue you, serve you with a copy of the summons and complaint, and take your default if you don't answer the complaint.

Depending on the amount of your debt, including medical bills, you might be a candidate for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Of course, a thorough analysis of your financial situation would be required.
