There are a few holes in the stroy that need clarification. How do you know you were being followed? What started the chain of events? Did they make any threatening motions or similar towards you that made you in fear of your life? How did you have time to pull over and pick up the metal pipe if they were following you? What was the arrest charge for if you never brandished the pipe in a threatening manner towards the other parties? Were the other parties located? Were they arrested? Did they file a complaint against you? What were prior strikes for? Are you currently on probation or parole?

Public pretenders will rarely do much other than plea bargain. Your best bet is to retain private counsel.

I agree with the above advice. If you have two prior strikes, you are potentially looking at life consequences. You need to retain counsel who will look out for your interests.
