It depends on the outcome of the case, and you control the outcome of the case by the choices you make. The "consequences" are not automatic. You would have to be convicted of a crime, and that should not happen unless there is proof that you do not come within the medical exception. You'll need to hire a lawyer who will fight for you. I would be pleased to talk to you at any time free of charge and I promise to answer all your questions. I am not affiliated with any other lawyer whose name or firm might appear on this web page. Even if you decide to use another lawyer, I would appreciate hearing from you so that I know people are receiving my answers.

If you consider a felony conviction and possible prison time to be "serious consequences," the answer is yes.

If you are a qualified patient under the Compassionate Use Act, you can possess and use medical marijuana, and you can grow what you need, either on your own or in a cooperative with other patients.

In some areas of the state, law enforcement is less aggressive in prosecuting people who sell marijuana, but the Compassionat Use Act does not allow sales.

The card is not a defense to you engaging in sales.

Duh. Sorry, but where on that 'card' does it say you are authorized to violate federal and state laws against illegal drug sales. You face felony charges with prison time if convicted. Understand, that card has absolutely no value except that CA has 'officially' turned a blind eye to mere possession. I suggest you hire an experienced criminal defense attorney who actually knows what the laws are, and how to best defend you against your own mistakes. If serious about doing so, feel free to contact me.
