You're looking at a felony that carries up to 3 years in custody (plus any time for any prison priors and for your underlying probation case).

If you can find a lawyer to be with you in court, do it. Otherwise, there's a chance you're going into custody while this gets sorted out.

Lots. The court can revoke your probation and make you serve the rest of your sentence. On top of that, possession of a firearm by a felon is a felony in its own right. It's a new crime that you can -- and probably will -- be charged with. If you're convicted, you would get an entirely new prison term to serve after the term you have already been sentenced to. And that term could be quite long, depending on what else is in your record. The fact that you were on probation when you committed the new crime is reason enough by itself to enhance the sentence.

You need a lawyer right away. You should start by calling the lawyer who represented you in the case that led to your probation. If you'd rather have somebody else then you can try to find someone later. But you need to get someone on your side immediately, and your prior lawyer already knows you and your case. She's the one you need to call first.

Good luck.
