Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

cost of felony expungement

I was convicted of felony drug possession in 2000. I completed probation as well as the program I was court ordered to attend. I have been doing great since. How much will it cost me to get this expunged from my record? Can I do it by myself without an attorney?

If your particular charge is allowed expungement, some are, some aren't, then the appropriate motions and pleadings must be filed and served. Typical cost is several hours of attorney time. Feel free to contact me if seriously interested in pursuing.

Generally, but not always, the Courts require felony cases to go throght the probation department for a PC 1203.4 dismissal, depending on the offense, you may also be eligible for a reduction to a misdemeanor per PC17. Various alternatives are available to get through the system, first, ask your PO to calendar the case for dismissal...many times they will, they then do the investigation and make a recommendation to the court...or, if you had cousnel on the underlying case, contact them.
