Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I currently have a criminal protective order against me. Several months ago, I provided funds (in court) to the protected person to cover their attorney fees for amending or modifying the CPO. However, it has been six months, and I have received no updates or communication regarding the modification. I assumed I would have been notified by now if any changes were made. I am aware that I am prohibited from communicating with the protected person, either directly or through a third party.

I would like to know if it is legal to contact the protected person’s attorney via email to inquire about the status of the CPO’s modification and to ask if I am still prohibited from communicating with their client. My inquiry would strictly pertain to the CPO and would not involve any attempt to persuade or indirectly contact the protected person.

You're free to contact the attorney, not the person.
