drug possesion

nephew charged with controlled substance possesion, what are the common sentences for 1st time felony charge? He is pleading not guilty, he took the blame so driver would not get car taken away.

This can depend on several factors such as prior record; type and amount of drug involved; which court the case is in... just to name a few.

The sentence can be anything from a diversion program to prison time depending on the answer to the above questions.

Hope his friend is happy that someone else is going to do his prison time for him. Nephew faces several years if convicted. Good counsel may be able to keep him out of prison, with some local jail time and fines instead most likely. It would be a real coup to get no jail. It all depends on the facts, amounts, priors, etc. Contact me if serious about getting him counsel willing to help him.
