Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

DUI & UTI conviction, w/Failure to appear

I was arrested and I pleaded no contest to a DUI, UTI, N/Proof of Insurance, & expired tags. Then sentenced to 36 mo. Probation, DUI School, Suspend Drivers Lic., $1300.00 fine and to serve 90 days w/1 credit. My remand date was 5/13/02 w/ 2 ext. 7/13/03 was the last date. My mother was terminally ill and for many diferen reasons I neg. to turn myself in. Now I have a failure to Remand. I would like to get this taken care of. What would be the best way to do it? And would be any possible way to convince the courts to allow me to try for the monitor, or swap. I have 3 Kids and theres no one to stay with them now. I'm a 1st. time offender and I've only been arrested 1 other time.

DON'T WORRY, YOU SHOULD BE FINE. Either call your old attorney who should do it for free or give us a call.

You need to retain an attorney to assist you or contact the public defender. Time is of the essence. Most warrants of this nature are enforced when the police pull over a car you are driving or riding in for a minor traffic violation. If you are arrested the court is less likely to give you a break. Just in case things do not go well you should arrange for your children's care.
