Felony reduction

Trying to have dropped or reduced to misdemener current felony. Felony is scratching off of serial number on fire arm. Purchased fire arm like this, an act that is 15 years haunting. Pashion is to become a highway patrolman. Probation is telling me I cannot reduce or drop because charge is in penal code. Im not taking no for an answer. Please help 34 yr old family man.

It MAY be possible to expunge the conviction and have it shown as 'charges dismissed'. However, the original conviction and expungement must be disclosed on any government employment applications, professional licensing, bonding, security clearance, law enforcement, etc. The agency would then determine whether it disqualifies you from employment.

Getting it expunged is still to your benefit, since you would be able to say 'no' to conviction on private employment applications. If serious about getting that done, feel free to contact me.
