Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Should I file contempt of court?

Hi, I had a restraining order against a person. After a hearing he came up to me and provoked me and threatened me, which I took serious and reacted. Now I have an assault charge but the restraining order was never enforced. The whole thing is on video. I did ask why it wasn't enforced but never got an answer from the DA. Should I file a contempt of court? and could it in anyway help my case?

Thank you

Since you were charged with assault because of your actions in the incident, not him, then filing a 'violation of restraining order' charge would seem quite futile.
