Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Regarding a fine

I was sentence to either 20 days in jail 25 days of caltran or a fine. I chose the fine now I realise that I might not be able to pay. What can happen to me can I go to jail for that?

Re: Regarding a fine

You should go to the court and ask the clerk to put you case back on calendar. Then explain to the judge that you are having money problems and would like to have more time to pay the fine, do the Caltran work or the jail time. You should decide before court which of these possibilities is the best for you. If it is not realistic for you to pay the fine then tell the judge that is the case and why. Then select one of the other options. Not doing anything will result in a bench warrant being issued for your arrest, and the penalty could be increased.
