Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Can you be found guilty for assualt if: a person tells the police he was assualted 3 weeks prior, and then waits another 8 days before seeking medical attention (they are trying to charge me with assult and attempted murder) please help

A person CAN be convicted on that kind of evidence. Obviously, those facts lend themselves to many possible defenses to counter the allegations. As I explained in a prior response:

Sure. It might make the claim harder to believe, but whether to believe it is for the jury to decide. Besides, in most cases there will be more evidence than just the complainant's testimony. Weak testimony is easier for juries to accept when bolstered by other evidence.
