grand theft over four hundred dollars

my mother found a purse in a indian casino , that apparently was rummage through before she picked it up. she took it to the bathroom and look inside and found that it was empty. she placed it in a house keeping cart ,and left few months later a sheriff deputy called her and accused her of stealing some money and a camera. of course this was caught on video cameras. my mom is 62 yrs old and has never been in trouble w/ the law . she has to go to court in madera county on oct.23 she is worried sick. she admits using bad judgement ,but that is it.

Your mother should retain an attorney immediately, and not talk to the police. The penalty if she is convicted could range from probation to state prison.
